Cleaning your lint filter isn't enough to maintain an efficient, problem free clothes dryer. Most of us use dryer sheets to help make our clothes soft, static free and smell good, but did you know that those sheets create a waxy film on our filters making our dyers work harder and use more energy. A good way to tell if your lint filter has dryer sheet build-up is by holding it under your tap, if the water puddles up and drains through slowly, you have build up. Simply take a little soap, hot water and an old toothbrush, scrub the filter, let dry and see the difference. This should be done every 6 months or so.

After I received this article I took the filter out of my dryer, the water did puddle. So I washed it with soap and water, what a difference. The water just flowed through, no more puddling.

Thanks Joyce and Joanie for forwarding this to us.
